Welcome!
Our mission is to enable robotic and intelligent systems, so they are of benefit in human environments, like the home or the office.
The research agenda of Machine Intelligence and Pattern Analysis Laboratory (MiPal) is to develop the software platform to integrate machine intelligence capabilities and to deploy them in integrated systems like autonomous mobile robots. In particular, we are interested on placing pattern analysis, machine learning, planing and reasoning on board of robots with the aim at facilitating human-computer interaction. Our goal is the natural use by humans of well coordinated teams of intelligent systems.
Therefore, the expertise of the researchers includes software engineering and requirements engineering, machine intelligence, non-monotonic reasoning, computer vision, machine learning, human-robot interaction, localization, heuristic algorithms, system integration, and algorithmic engineering.
Our benchmark has been robotic soccer, strategy games, robots at home and applications that could assist people with disabilities.
